N1008:  Ivory 'Noh Mask' Netsuke

This is a very nice ivory Noh Mask netsuke. Unusual strap on back.  It is 1 3/4" tall.
$325

N1007:  Ivory 'Noh Mask' Netsuke

This is more than a nice ivory Noh Mask netsuke.  All my years of collecting, I have only seen this version a couple times and the cost was prohibitive for me to purchase it.  BUT... I finally caught one off guard.  Although the facial expression is somewhat gruesome, it is extremely well done with the missing tooth, elongated face, and scary eyes. It is carved from the nicest pristine ivory and measures a large 2" (thick and wide).
$425

N1001:  Ivory 'Noddler' Netsuke

This is a rare 'Noddler' ivory netsuke.  The head moves from side to side, but will not come out.  Amazing craftsmanship.  He is standing with a slice of watermelon in his hands.   He is stained a dark tea color and stands 2 1/8" tall.
$395

N985:  Ivory 'Sumo Wrestlers' Netsuke

There are many renditions of the popular Sumo Wrestlers, but this ivory netsuke is one of the best I have seen.  The facial expressions are right on as one reaches around the other.  They have a very nice signature on their hip.  They stand 1 3/8" with a highly polished finish.
$295

N1022:  Ivory 'Cleaning of Buddha' Netsuke

This is a fantastic ivory netsuke of the annual Cleaning of Buddha ceremony.  Every year in Japan, the people flock to the gigantic statue to perform the 'maintenance' of the shrine.  This rendition is as good as it gets.  Note the detail to the tiny people climbing all over him, and the delicate scrimshaw to the decorations.  It sits 1 3/4" and 1 1/2" wide (a larger netsuke).
$295

N969:  Ivory 'Box Maker' Netsuke

This is a great ivory netsuke of a worker at his post.  Japan netsuke carvers are famous for portraying the average man at work.  Here he sits with a mallet in his hand with a large box on his stump.  Very traditional with the tea stain.  He sits 1 1/2".  Circa probably turn of the century.
$275
